How do i upload a video to youtube and still have it in good quality if its too big?

i use windows media maker and it was six minutes long so i couldn't put it in an email. then i changed the maximum file size and viewed it with windows media player and it was really small and very blurry. i tried to upload it to youtube even though it was blurry and it said file not found. this is very frustrating please help!!!!How do i upload a video to youtube and still have it in good quality if its too big?

Step7Allow up to five minutes for every megabyte of your video. This time can be faster or slower, depending on your connection type.
