the %26quot;resolution%26quot; means pixels per mm or something like that, the higher resolution the clearer the picture and greater number of pixels. if you're using a program like adobe photoshop it will tell you the resolution under image size. normal pictures from the internet are usually 72 pixels, if you increase it to 150, the picture shrinks but is clearer. the human eye cannot distiguish anything clearer than approx 150 pixels so its not worth going higher than that, though it is possible.

If you convert it to mp3 select 128-192 kbps those are reasonably good bit rates. The iPod doesn't support WAV files so convert it. I need to submit a brochure design to a printing company. I've already submitted the file for the cover with no problem, but the inside of the brocure, after converting it to .PDF is 55.1 Mb.

Its because when you downloaded the video, it uses a compression method. When burning a file especially multimedia files like video, the file will be written to the CD but in the compression method that is not as high as it has when it saved in a PC. It's because ROMs do not have the ability to read this kind of compression method.

what exactly do you want to do with them after you put them on your phone? Does your phone have a memory card slot on it? you can get a pretty big memory card now for cheap, i would look into that first....As for saving space on your computer, you may want to burn some dvds to back up those files.

Elements works the same as photoshop in most things. In Photoshop, CTRL-ALT-I (Mac CMD-OPT-I) and a dialog comes up to resize them.

This is a tough and rather complicated situation, but I'll do my best to explain...



The movie you downloaded has already gone through a lot of compression, so it's relatively small. When you create a project in Final Cut, it has basic settings that are typically very high quality since it assumes you're working with source content from a camera or other high-quality source. So when you bring the video in, it tries to up-sample that video to match the project settings. Then when you export the new video, it's doing so based on a higher quality source (the project you created with FC).



Basically there's no editor that can work with compressed files like you have without having to resample them at some stage. One solution would be to try and export your video from Final Cut to a smaller, more compressed format - there are dozens of options when you export. But you'll be re-compressing that wmv video after it's already been compressed, so the quality of that will not turn out good and you can't uncompress a video, so you just have to deal with whatever the outcome.

Notice the button called Change?

Select a drive, preferably on a different physical hard drive if possible, and enter a suitable Initial Size and Maximum Size.



If you are unsure as to what to put, put the Recommended, and 2x the Recommended, respectively.

I am in the midst of creating a website for a friend, but due to memory limitations in her hosting package, is there anyway I can reduce the file size for the image?



Also, is there any way I could do multiple images at once? Ex: Take a folder of images and reduce their file size by 50%?



The actual image size for me is irrelevant- I am more concerned about getting the file size from say 500kb to say, 25-75kb.



So again, that's converting a large image file size say (500kb) and changing it to a smaller file size to say (50-75kb)



Quality is also a major concern. I realize I am not 'blowing' up a an image as it would become pixelated, but by shrinking the file size, will the original image lose data making the overall quality bad?

Be careful. Jpeg is a compression format. Every time you open a jpeg, make changes and save it, it re-compresses the image. Eventually you'll lose so much image quality that it is permenantly damaged.

There is an excellent program available for free download called IrfanView (see link below).



Install and launch the program...

Open your file that you wish to resize...

On the IMAGE menu, select Resize/Resample...

Set your sizing options, click OK, then save your modified file.



You'll want to experiment with various reductions in size to decrease the file size. Also, if the file is not already in jpeg format, use SaveAs and select JPEG as the file format to save. It tends to be much smaller without serious loss of quality.

If you're using a windows xp... Use the Microsoft Office Picture Manager( MOPM). Select the photo that you want to resize. Right click and open it with MOPM. I’m not quite sure when it happened (sometime ≥ v4.0), but iPhoto has finally fixed the non-anti-aliasing of exported photos. This makes my life a tad bit easier. The following steps are those that I used to take to get photos up on this site:



Create a temp folder in iPhoto.

Copy to this folder all of the pictures from the latest trip/event/whatever that I want to put up on the site.

Go to the temp folder and remove all of the photos that I know I’m not going to use on the site.

Sort the remaining photos in the order that I want.

Tag these photos with the “web” keyword (more about this here) for future reference.

Export them from iPhoto with no resizing and where the filenames are based on the album name. This will export the images with numbers that correlate to the order that you have them laid out in iPhoto (e.g., temp-01.jpg, temp-02.jpg, etc).

Use QuickName (or whatever you like) to remove “temp-” from the front of the filenames. I’ve found no way to get iPhoto to use only sequential numbers in the filenames (i.e., without a title preceding the number).

Use Photoshop to batch-resize the pictures to the size that I want for the website (currently 500×375).

Create a new folder on my webserver for the pics and drop them in there along with my Slideshow script.

Think about a faster, more efficient way to do this.
