There are random files mixed in random places...it crashed my windows firewall and virus protection, its sending emails constantly last time i could go on my computer, and on some kind of pad there were German words...but I lost it...I kind of lost all control over my computer...also these random files are changing sizes rapidly...and it doesn't let me delete them...What type of virus is this and how to get rid of it?
Run your computer in safe mode. To do this, keep tapping F8 which will then allow you to choose what mode you want to boot into. Use your arrow keys and select Safe Mode. Then once your in, go to the internet and download MBAM. Website:http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php .This is a very powerful scanner and it kills viruses and malicious software as if they were ants. I use this scanner instead of my anti-virus because it is so good. Now after you installed it, update it and then do a full scan. Once finished there should be infections listed and remove them all! Then restart your computer and boot up normally and everything should be fine.

I have tried to upload a document to a printer and they have said that the PDF compatibility level is too high. Supported PDF versions are PDF 1.3 and PDF 1.4 (Acrobat 4, 5 and 6).
It appears to have been saved in Acrobat 7. I do not have a full version of Adobe to convert it.

Can i resize pic but keep clarity?
I took alot of pics in large quality only now i want to send some in email and possibly get 4x6s printed but when the pic is small it looks distorted and the straight lines are very jagged. U can tell theres too much detail for the pic to be that small. When u enlarge it, it looks fine. So, is thre a way to change the file size and make it smaller but keep the clarity? Heres an example. When u go there, notice the whiskers. then click the pic and it will make it bigger and notice them then. Its alot more clear. How do i fix this? Can i fix this? Help lol.

Yes there is a way to keep the clarity. It's always good to have pictures with that much resolution, the more information the better.
What needs to be done depends on the software and photoediting programs that you will be using.
In photoshop, for example, open the photo, open the image size menu, make sure you have the keep in proportion option checked. Check on 6 for the h eight and the width should get close to 4. Now drop the resolution down to 177 and close that menu and choose the save as under file and save the photo to a different folder and give a name. The reason f or doing is to keep the original just in case you want to make a larger version of the photo. From the size that it's being saved to you would never be able to enlarge to a decent size without getting distortion so that's why you want to save as and give the photo a different name or simply save as a copy.

What I see as I zoom in and out os a conflict between the resolution of your image and my monitor. If you step this up and down one percent at the time, the %26quot;fuzziness%26quot; in the whiskers changes position with every step, but the very tip of each whisker remains rather sharp.
Experiment and see what magnifications work best. For instance, 50% is pretty sharp, but 51% is horrible.
When I try various crops of your image (4x6, 5x7, etc.) they are ALL just as sharp when viewed at 100%, even though the ppi are all over the place.

The picture is a JPEG, but the file doesn't say whether or not it's a k. The file is 1.70 MB. Is this smaller or larger than 300k? Questions about converting .ogm and other video files into smaller file size and kbps?
I actually have 2 questions:
1. I want to burn my .ogm files into CD-Rs (and not into DVD-Rs) but I want to resize them to say, smaller resolution (maybe 320x240 is okay) or smaller file quality (just more than 64 kbps), but I want to maintain the dual-audio. How do I do it?
2. And for general video files: do you know any free video converter that does the job? I use Total Video Converter and I'd say it really minimizes the file size (from a 170mb .avi file to just 50mb). However the quality is limited to 64kbps, and I cannot change the settings.

Anyway, I prefer online editors for just about everything I do. They are versatile, and can be accessed from any puter... anywhere. The .jpeg(.jpg) format works best when storing photos online, the compressed files save space, load faster, all without any significant loss in the quality of the image's pi(x)cture.

On Elements I had the 'holding tank' at the bottom to see images that I opened and could drag them into a new document. How do I do this on CS2? Everytime I open a new image, it's in a new window. When I try to drag it from one window to the new document, it doesn't fit or let me resize it. I'm trying to make an 8x10 image fit for a 5x7. Just read thru the file and count the number of lines, and then randomly choose the whichline=rand()%NumLines;
With a phraseFile, it's faster to create the file using fixed Width fields so that all the lines are ... let's say 80 characters.
You can get the size of the file very fast with stat().
Let's say it return 3200 bytes. Therefore, you know you have 40 phrases.
Then to randomly pick a phrase in the file, just fseek() into the file whichline*80 bytes.

You can crop, change dimensions etc. but it is unclear how to change the file size so that you can take the large files you upload off your camera and use them for web purposes such as emailing and uploading to social networking sites. Can anybody give me specific instructions on exactly how to do this? (I mention specificity because sometimes when computer people show me stuff I don't actually know what they mean). When you click on a jpeg it opens with Preview. Look inn the menu bar on top and click on Tool, then you will see Adjust Size. Click on it and do what you want. Warning: Duplicate the jpeg, then adjust the size. Sometimes adjusting the size makes it blur and cannot be returned to original. With a copy you don't have a dead jpeg. Idea 1 sounds like a waste of time; how will it help anyone do you plan on changing all %26quot;As%26quot; into %26quot;Cs%26quot; if that is smaller; then the text becomes unreadable (“apple” becomes “cpple” but, “canal” becomes “ccncl” which could be “acncl”, “aanal”, or “acnal” etc.) The way to compress text is to remove the spaces and formatting, this is why Yahoo Answers doesn’t allow fonts or italics or bold characters; it makes for a shorter file.
Idea 2 is flawed because the answer is already known.
- JPEG files use a loosy compression rate which means that they lose some information every time they are saved because they take an average of the pixels.
- GIF format takes the colors down to 256 instead of the 16 million found in JPEGs, which means they are great for icons, but not good for standard images.
- TIFF images are huge because they keep all the information.
- PNG is just an updated GIF format, both are good for simple animation, which is why you can't use JPEGs in Alchemy Mindshop's GIF Construction set to make animated images, only GIFs and PNGs.
- BMPs are one of the earliest forms of image saving using a 1:1 ratio so they are very large, but almost any image reader can read the image.
- PSP images and Adobe Photoshop images are even larger because they store layer information allowing you to parts of the image separately.
The job has been done a long time ago, it is well known and the reasons are clear to anyone who does a simple Wikipedia or Google Search.
What might be a better project would be to create a model of the locks in the Panama canal. All you need is a square chamber that is water tight and will let you put in some dividers; you can find these at places like Wal Mart and Home Depot, just look for crafts/tools storage cases. Then use clay to make the joints where you put the dividers in water tight. Now you can fill each container with water at different levels. If you can find a small enough model of a boat that actually float you can put that in, but you will probably have to carve it out of Styrofoam. and explain that the locks are used to raise the ships UP to the level of Lake Gautn. Then the ships sail down the lake to the other locks to lower it to the level of the ocean on the other side. The French built the Suez canal and tired to build the Panama Canal, but failed. The Suez Canal is an almost straight run, but the Panama Canal would have to go through too much rock to that.

You could get the answer to the first without doing the work. I'd be more impressed by the second. Along with rating the size of the file, you might also get subjective opinions on the clarity of the picture. That would add a practical aspect to your study.
The point is, I was looking for a quick, easy, 1-2-3 step project that was so easy, a caveman (or I) could do it. Here are the two projects I narrowed it down to:
1: Testing how the number of letters in a file change the size of the file.
------------ Basically opening Word and saving 1000 letter A's as one file, then as another file saving 2000 letter A's, then as another file saving 3000 letter A's, etc. Then comparing/contrasting the data.
2: Testing if saving an image file in a different format will change the size of the file.

Idea 1 sounds like a waste of time; how will it help anyone do you plan on changing all %26quot;As%26quot; into %26quot;Cs%26quot; if that is smaller; then the text becomes unreadable (“apple” becomes “cpple” but, “canal” becomes “ccncl” which could be “acncl”, “aanal”, or “acnal” etc.) The way to compress text is to remove the spaces and formatting, this is why Yahoo Answers doesn’t allow fonts or italics or bold characters; it makes for a shorter file.
Idea 2 is flawed because the answer is already known.
- JPEG files use a loosy compression rate which means that they lose some information every time they are saved because they take an average of the pixels.
- GIF format takes the colors down to 256 instead of the 16 million found in JPEGs, which means they are great for icons, but not good for standard images.
- TIFF images are huge because they keep all the information.
- PNG is just an updated GIF format, both are good for simple animation, which is why you can't use JPEGs in Alchemy Mindshop's GIF Construction set to make animated images, only GIFs and PNGs.
- BMPs are one of the earliest forms of image saving using a 1:1 ratio so they are very large, but almost any image reader can read the image.
- PSP images and Adobe Photoshop images are even larger because they store layer information allowing you to parts of the image separately.
The job has been done a long time ago, it is well known and the reasons are clear to anyone who does a simple Wikipedia or Google Search.
What might be a better project would be to create a model of the locks in the Panama canal. All you need is a square chamber that is water tight and will let you put in some dividers; you can find these at places like Wal Mart and Home Depot, just look for crafts/tools storage cases. Then use clay to make the joints where you put the dividers in water tight. Now you can fill each container with water at different levels. If you can find a small enough model of a boat that actually float you can put that in, but you will probably have to carve it out of Styrofoam. and explain that the locks are used to raise the ships UP to the level of Lake Gautn. Then the ships sail down the lake to the other locks to lower it to the level of the ocean on the other side. This has to be done because the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean are at different heights on each side of Panama and the Rocky and Andes mountain chain runs from Alaska down to Antarctica. The French built the Suez canal and tired to build the Panama Canal, but failed. The Suez Canal is an almost straight run, but the Panama Canal would have to go through too much rock to that.
Interesting facts:
1. The Army Corp of Engineers spent 1 year eradicating the Mosquito from the area before they even touched an ounce of dirt, to get rid of malaria and yellow fever; which destroyed the French effort.
2. The hydraulic power produced by the water falling creates electrical power to run the dam, but only 25% of that power is needed allowing Panama to sell it to their citizens.
3. The canal is become obsolete because it is too narrow, US Aircraft Carrier has to go around the Horn because they can't fit through the Canal, and neither can the new super freighters.

I'd go with 1 but I'd also add a little to it... it doesn't add too much work.
I'd also see if 1000 letter i's make a bigger file than 1000 letter W's - since i is so much littler than w. or even 1000 periods or apostrophes

You could get the answer to the first without doing the work. I'd be more impressed by the second. Along with rating the size of the file, you might also get subjective opinions on the clarity of the picture. That would add a practical aspect to your study.

From the sounds of it, I could do what you are doing in under 5mins. No business will be able to justify a $25/hr charge when that is almost $1000 on just editing images wich is a joke.

I just got the Samsung SCH-u740 from Verizon and it seems the phone automatically orders the picture files by size. i work on a 72 dpi in photoshop, after knowing that 300dpi is the recommended value for printing, i have to change at least 5 works to 300dpi....
so can i just simply open the file, click image | image size ...and change the 72 to 300?
or rebuild everything from scratch! (since i still have the files with me).....will these two methods have a drastic and observable effect/improvement?

Why does my "porgram files" folder keep changing it's file size?
it goes up and down of it's own accord, one moment it was 1GB, then it was 2GB, then I clicked to view it's settings and it literally rocketed up to 7GB! what I want to know is:

I don't know if something changed with Yahoo or I accidentally changes something in my settings but you used to be able to download full-size files (pics) from just right-clicking on the thumbnail and saving to your computer folder. How to Shrink A File Size?
Hi, I need to know what the best way is to shrink the size of my photo. I have tried to re-size it in Microsoft Office Picture Manager, Paint etc and it apparently showed the size changed but it did not pass the size criteria on the website I need it for. One more problem is they require the photo 600x600 Pixels and when I customize and re-size my photo by putting my own numbers like 600 for the Pixels, it works but then when I open my photo the next time and see it did't work for both width and height and the picture is still rectangular in size and appearence!
I would appreciate any tip!

Unable to delete file, files change?
Well, I'm trying to tidy up my hard drive and I noticed that some of my files have changed completely. I had a file containing a season of How I Met Your Mother copied onto my portable hard drive, and now noticed that season 1 has changed. The file name is all okay, but when you go into it, instead of having all the video files there, its changed to a whole heap of random files with names such as 7à áq*?}.▓┴% and ?·`à -u¤.┬│ü. I am unable to delete it as it says the file name is too long, and am unable to rename it so I can delete it. Going into properties of the folder, it says it's 505GB in size, but my portable hard drive is only 300GB capacity.
Is it a virus? What should I do? If anyone could just tell me how to delete it, I can recopy it onto my portable hard drive from the computer. Also, all the other seasons copied out fine, it's just this one. I'm thinking it's a virus that changes the whole folder and creates a whole heap of crap that you can't delete. I've installed it on this system before, before it was reformatted,but this error has appeared on all other computers I've tried it on:
Error 1305: Error reading from file C:/ etc.. /Sound/Music.H20, I've checked and the file itself exists, when I click on Retry, the file changes size for awhile, from the 31 meg it's supposed to be to 8meg, 3meg, seemingly random numbers. This is a legal copy, installing from the cd.. any idea how I can get past this? I'm running on Windows vista .BATTLE REALM PROBLEM?
I dont have any problems on XP, but i hate Vista and I'm not good with Vista. I would check on the PC Gaming Tech Support area on the GamersThrone forums.

Coulld someone tell me how to change a CLP file to a JPEG file?
I'm having problems with a software program and the company's tech support sent me an application and asked me to download and unpack it (Device Tree Application for their software program).
They told me to %26quot;run the application%26quot; and completely unfold the %26quot;\Driver\Disk%26quot; and %26quot;\Driver\FtDisk%26quot; branches of the Application.
I was then to take a screen shot of the two unfolded branches and email the file to them.
Well, I've tried and tried to do what they said but I can't seem to get them what they need.
The file needs to be in a JPEG format (Adobe Reader can't open CLP files) but since I work with the screen shot to the clipboard it comes out as CLP and I can't figure out how to change it to a JPEG file extension that they can open.
By the way, this CLP file is 6144kb in size....but it was transmitted via Yahoo email without problems. They got it but couldn't open it because it was a .CLP file.Coulld someone tell me how to change a CLP file to a JPEG file?
ok.. i sort of understand. do a google search for 'jpeg converters' and im sure u will get what u need. i had a problem with mp3 and mwa and that sorta thing so i searched for audio converters and got software that could convert it.

How can I change my computer paging file?
I have a computer that keeps telling me that I need to increase the size of the paging file. I try to change it, but really not sure what to put in as far as the size of file I need...but whatever I put in there...and then click %26quot;save%26quot;, it does not save it.
My main complaint is that if I have more than one IE window open, one or more windows will automatically drop off and close down. Apparently, there is not enough paging file size to handle more than one IE window open. If I click on a link...and the site opens another window, it or both may close down unexpectedly. Currently, my paging file size says %26quot;0%26quot;. I can't change it. Anyone out there seen this before....or has an idea what I need to do?

The way i'm approaching this is so i can create a partition and install another windows on there so i can view my other damaged partition and retrieve the files (which are insanely important), but when i try to create a partition via windows installation, it limits me to 8MB partition because my damaged partition takes up the whole hard drive.

Download the ISO and burn it to a CD. Once you insert it in your CD drive it will boot up a basic version of Linux that doesn't install anything on your hard drive but runs entirely off the CD.
From here, you can browse the contents of your hard drive and then transfer over any files you need to a USB flash drive or external hard drive.

If you saved the signature in a format other than Photoshop (example: jpeg, ect.,) you can't edit it anymore. actually, you can use the video converter because many of them have the option of changing the size of the videos, i used the mediacoder because i wanted to make a youtube video bigger for my project. try it and don't get upset if sometimes it doesn't output a folder it does this sometimes. you can download it for free from the internet. or else try searching for a %26quot;resizing video software free download%26quot; and you just might find your stuff

If you have a picture editor program, like Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Photoshop, or even Microsoft Paint (which is already on your Windows PC under Accessories) you can convert it to a .jpg. How do I change display size in Windows Movie Maker?
I have a video clip I'm trying to edit that is 1280 x 720. When I make the edits and try to save, WMM wants to save the new file in 856 x 480 resolution (apparently, it decided that's what was best for my computer). How do I get it to save the file in 1280 x 720? Most people don't realize that WMM is a very basic video editing program. Unfortunately, it can't do what you want it to do (change resolution).
Nor does it include a feature to automatically match video properties from original source files. Now, other $$$ movie making software applications can do that, but WMM can't.
