lots of ways to do this.

one way would be to open with 'paint'

select 'image' and then 'stretch/skew'

stretch the horizontal and vertical by the same amount...any percentage less than 100% will shrink the pictureHow do you change the file size of a jpeg once on your pc?

start %26gt; All programs %26gt; Accessories %26gt; Paint

Open them in windows paint program. Click on image %26gt;stretch skew ( give a number smaller, say 50, 50 in the box front of stretch, Horizontal and vertical) press OK. Then save it as jpeg file with another name so that your original file remains intact. Check the final size of the image after saving. Repeat the procedure with the original image if you want it still smaller or bigger, by reducing or by increasing the stretch value. How do you change the file size of a jpeg once on your pc?

If you want control over the resizing, use a good free image tool

such as PIXresizer or Irfanview

Be careful. Jpeg is a compression format. Every time you open a jpeg, make changes and save it, it re-compresses the image. Eventually you'll lose so much image quality that it is permenantly damaged.

Open your images and save as Bitmaps, make any changes, then save as jpegs. Try out the changes in your browser. If you need to make further changes open the bitmaps and try again, not the changed jpegs - just discard them.

Irfanview is one freeware program you can use, Paint dot net is a second, or if the changes are very simple you can use Paint.

Open the image.

Save As a bitmap.

Make sure the dpi is at 72. The web displays at 72 dpi, thats the correct resolution for screen. You want a big file size for printing.

Alter the width and height by the same amount, so as not to skew or distort the image, its unprofessional looking.

When you're happy with the new image, Save As a jpeg, load it into your browser and see how it looks. How do you change the file size of a jpeg once on your pc?
Once the files are in jpeg, retrieve the file through window explorer, hence if your mouse pointer is on the file, it will highlight the dimensions (length %26amp; width) in pixels or inches, Type of file and size of file. Right click on the file and navigate to open with in the follow up dialog box choose Microsoft Photo Editor (MPE)

and click, the file will appear on MPE format, then go through the Image menu and click resize, the dialog box that follows shows you the size which could be adjusted and also click allow distortion and okay later, click save to reflect the new changes. the close the file. The effected change will reflect on the file. thanksHow do you change the file size of a jpeg once on your pc?
